Bibi in her hats

I was searching through my photo catalogues just now for a particular image using the keyword “hat” when I came across this image of my late paternal grandmother, known to her grandchildren simply as BIBI (traditionally Farsi for lady, but in our community used for grandmother). I’d forgotten about this image, which I’d taken back in 1990. Bibi was always very formal, reserved and modest. She was also tiny – under 5ft in her heels!

My family lived with Bibi at her house in Stamford Hill till I was 5 years old; I was very close to her. In the picture below my body language says it all. My handbag was pink, and came from America, by the way:
